What does it take to be accepted to medical school?

If I take a year off after high school will I be accepted into a university the following year?

    hey there depends on the school. Most colleges it wont matter but doing some community work or shadowing someone in the profession you would like to go to school for would help greatly. Please don't take to much time off because you will not go back trust me!!! the longer you are out the harder it is..hope this helps

Every school is different in their process. However, in the vast majority of cases, it will make no difference. They will look at your academic records to make their decision. They will also look thing such as extra curricular activities. If you do something positive for that year, it may even increase your chances.

It will be the same as if you didn't take the year off, except that when they read you transcript, your grades from the spring of your senior year will be there.

Depending on what you do with that year, it may actually increase your chances. If you lounge around and do nothing, it probably won't hurt you... but if you use the time wisely and you always integrate it into the typical application essay. Maybe you felt the need to join the OWS movement and then you are returning for your education to help further the cause... or whatever...

Every university is different, but if you are going to take a year off, make sure that you will have a story behind it, not that you just sat at home and played video games. It does not matter much whether you work, travel, go on a exchange... just make sure that you are doing something.
