Will I get into Washington University?

Can I get into GWU (George Washington University)?

  • Ok, so I go to school in Missouri (I don't know if that matters or not, but I wanted to throw that in there just in case). I'm a freshman in high school. I want to go to GWU for Law School. My grades are A's and B's. I haven't took the ACT/SAT so I don't have a scores for them but when I do take them, what scores do I need to have in order to get into George Washington University? I am on Academic Team, the softball team, in Drama Club, FCCLA, FFA, and FCA. Also, the summer of 2009 I went to Washington, DC to talk about the Adam Walsh Act with my representative, Jo Ann Emerson. While I was there, she told me she would like for me to intern there the summer of my Jr year for her. (or the Rep. that takes her place if she dosen't win then). Will that look good on my college application for GWU? When I turn 16, I'm going to volunteer for a law firm around my area too. So, be honest. If next year I have all A's thoughout my senior year, do you think I will be able to get in? I'm hoping my grades will be a whole lot better than this year!

  • Answer:

I live in DC, and I went to GWU for a semester then transferred out because of the excessively high tuition. Let me tell you. GWU isn't all that hard to get into. I've seen people got in with a barely 3.0 GPA. The school also has a code of conducts. If you're black or Latino or Pacific Island, you're safe by Affirmative Action and have higher chance of being accepted. I am Asian, my GPA was 3.7 during highschool. I did tons of volunteer work and was president of 2 clubs in my school and I got in. As long as you do your best with your application like showing that you have many extracurricular activities and volunteer works, you can get in with a decent GPA. Make sure your SAT score is 1700 minimum also. Mine was 1750. This is personal, but I'm going to tell you. Make sure that you know you really want to go to GWU, because that school is full of rich snobs from the east coast who are willing to pay $55k a year. I graduated from a private highschool and never saw a single public school graduate roaming around the campus. Good luck anyway!
