What classes should I take to become a social worker?

What classes do I need to take to become a social worker in California?

  • I would like to become a social worker who helps women and children get away from abusive situations. Puts them in shelters, foster homes, adoptive homes etc. I am planning on going to a community college then transferring later on to a university. I was wondering what types of classes would I need to take in order to get my Masters in Social Work? And what types of financial aid is available to help me pay for my schooling without getting a student loan? Any information would be helpful. Thank you in advanced!

  • Answer:

Your major: Sociology with these classes: Sociology 100, Social Problems, Family & Marriage, Psychology, maybe American Government and other general subjects required. Check with your counselor.
