What is the daily life as a Physician's Assistant like?

What is the difference between a nurse practitioner and a physicians assistant?

  • I am interested in going into a health career. I am wonder what the difference between a nurse practitioner and a physicians assistant is.

  • Answer:

http://www.ehow.com/info_8094082_physicians-salary-vs-nurse-practitioner.html gives a nice little summary of what each does. There doesn't seem to be much difference in what they make. Just remember that nurses are generally expected to give "comfort care" and that probably stays attached to the job of a nurse practitioner to some extent. A nurse practitioner is still a registered nurse, after all is said and done. A physician's assistant, on the other hand, has a more specialized role and will handle more of a doctor's responsibilities.

A nurse practitioner has a higher level of patient responsibility. In some states, NP's can write prescriptions under a doctor's supervision; a PA cannot. An NP also needs a higher level of education.
