What are the chances for getting into Johns Hopkins?

What are my chances of getting into Johns Hopkins University?

  • I am a sophomore in a community college. I would like to transfer to Johns Hopkins for my Bachelors in Nursing. My GPA is currently 3.753. I volunteer at a local hospital when I dont have classes and I am currently working for a health insurance company in case management. I'm an active member of Alpha Gamma Sigma, have a CNA (nurse assistant) licence and experience in patient care. What do you think my chances are?

  • Answer:

I think you have an excellent chance. JHU always looks for those who have a complete package- intelligence, extra-curriculars, personal experiences, etc. The fact that you are already a CNA, and volunteer at the hospital is a huge plus for you. Go to the website below for more information on admissions requirements, and so on and so forth. But like I said, you have an excellent chance. Good luck!

A john hopkins representative came ot my school to talk about their admissions process and examples of students they accepted, denied and waitlisted. To tell you the truth they look really heavily on grades and standardized tests. Also if your grades are weighted, they only consider the unweighted grades as your real GPA Especially since you go to a community college, theyy would expect at least a 4.0 GPA, although it does osmewhat depend on the strength of your courses. I would really try to work towards a higher GPA, because remember you will be competeing against other potential transfer students, and someone will always have a better GPA than you. ( i mean this in a general way, not you specifically) i wish you the BEST of luck.. i am going thourgh the application process for colleges as well... its sucks! YOU WILL GET IN!!!

if you fulfill the criteria to apply if they have any and you are truly confident and believe in yourself i would say your chance is very good, it totally depends on you and what you feel you can achieve. no one can tell u what you can or cant do by just reading off a list of your qualfications. hope it helped

Probably pretty slim because of your GPA. You need to really stand out--be absolutely stellar--grade-wise if you want to get into JHU, and you also need to come from a good undergrad if you want to go to their med school. I mean, of course there's no harm in trying! It sounds like you have a lot of good experience outside of your academics, so congrats on that. Good luck.
