What are my chances of getting into an Ivy League school such as Harvard or Yale?
-
Hello, I'm planning on applying to Ivy League schools, but I don't know which ones I have a better shot at. Here are my specs... Academics: - 4.0 GPA (throughout all 4 years) - Unweighted - 5.45 HPA - Weighted - Total of 10 AP classes (4 or higher on 8 APs) - 2350 SAT (780 Verbal/ 800 Math/ 770 Writing) - SAT subject tests (770 History/ 780 Chem/ 800 Math IIC) - 35 ACT Clubs, Sports, and ECs: - Track ( 3 years) - Cross Country (4 years) - Varsity Soccer (2 year) - Debate Team ( 3 years - Also the Captain) - Medical Club (2 years - Treasurer) - FBLA (3 years) - NHS - French NHS - French Club (3 years) - Student Advisory Board (3 years) - Math Club (4 years - Also won competitions and medals) - Chess Club (1 year) - Model UN - 250+ hours of community service (Hospital, Church, etc.) Also, I am well aware that Ivy League schools such as Harvard look for the "uniqueness" in people, or basically what makes them stand out from others... Well, I have a great passion for art and I do local projects around my community. I also participate in art competitions and I've won several trophies/medals from them.

Answer:
I suggest that you read over actual student reviews of many people who attended there and see what grades, test scores, and extracurriculars they had to get in successfully. You also will get lots of information about the school you will not get in a college guidebook. http://www.studentsreview.com

Slightly above average chances unless you're Asian. If you're Hispanic and Black, I think you can count on at least one top admit. Good luck. Your AP scores are kind of weak but your other scores compensate for that. Your ECs look like typical laundry list stuff. Nothing impressive there. That's gonna count against you.

On paper you do look good. You study hard, play hard, and give back to the community which are all pluses. You obvious know how to juggle a schedule and can do it without burning yourself out, hopefully. Here's the bad news: many other high school students have those exact qualifications. The one thing you always have to remember is that college is not high school and Harvard will always take a college transfer with a 4.0 over any high school student. Apply and maybe you'll get lucky and if you don't make the cut then go to another college and transfer in. I'm a 4.0 college student and a member of Phi Theta Kappa, yes a community college and you wouldn't believe where most PTK members transfer to: Yale, Oxford, Princeton, the list goes on. It's a whole new ballgame when you actually go to college.

you look good on paper, so the important thing will be to have excellent rec letters and a great personal statement. you'll have to craft something innovative that puts the bow on the package and explains why you must go to their school.

You should be accepted although that does not mean that you will be accepted. Unfortunately, there is no certain way of telling in advance whether you will accepted or not. You are a strong candidate./
