How to go to college in USA as an international student?

  • Hello. I am a sophomore in a high-school in Romania, and I want to go to university in USA, after I graduate. I was wondering what would be the best choice of a college, for me as an international student, and also how to get some scholarships for international students. Can anyone help me, please?

  • Answer:

Start by talking to someone at the Fulbright Educational Advising Center in Bucharest. See link below.

There is very little in the way of any kind of financial aid to international students from US schools. that includs scholarships. and do not assume a scholarships would cover all your costs. Most scholarships do not cover full tuition, even for US students. Plan on at least $30,000 per year for tuition and room and board. You need to take the SAT www.collegeboard.org What do you want to major in? Try www.a2zcolleges.com click on majors at the top go on several US school's web sites and read thorugh them. almost all info you need will be there.

Some top schools are need-blind and offer need-based aid for international students, so I would suggest trying to get into one of those. Yale, Amherst, Princeton, Haverford and Harvard offer that although competition to get in, as you probably already know, is incredibly fierce. good-luck

Unless you're going to Alaska, don't go to the USA. There are many countries which are far better.
