For those in Pharmacy School?

For pharmacy, do you apply into pharmacy school directly from highschool or after two years in college?

    You have a few options you can take. You can most certainly enter straight from high school. You would be doing 2 years' worth of pre-requisites but already be in the school of pharmacy. If you just want to go into Rutgers as general studies, you can still take the pre-requisites, then change majors/apply to the pharmacy school once you finish those classes. Likewise, you can go to a community college, finish your required classes before applying to Rutgers. In addition to those required classes, you also need to take the PCAT. But either way, it will be 6 years before you get your Pharm D. Here are some resources for you.

It is possible to enroll in a so-called 0-6 Pharmacy program, where excellent students right out of HIgh School are enrolled in a program which guarantees entrance to Pharmacy School after two preliminary years of undergrad study. PCAT is not required, but minimum standards must be met. It is also possible to apply for Pharmacy School after two undergrad years that include pre-pharmacy courses. Candidates must do well in the PCAT exam. Finally, between 2/3 and 3/4 of matriculating students in Pharmacy School these days have a Bachelor's degree.

I'm not sure about an actual pharmacy school, but I do know that in order to get into medical school, you need some sort of bachelor degree from a university. The degree doesn't matter, the actual MCAT test does. Even if you can go straight to pharmacy school, the experience is better. My suggestion (and probably the way it's done at Rutgers): college with some degree, then test into medical school. Hope this helps!
