How long do I study to become a nurse?

Is it possible to study at home to become a Veterinary Nurse?

  • I work in the financial sector... I started to train as a veterinary nurse while doing my A levels but had to give it up as I needed a job to pay the mortgage. That was a few years ago and I am yearning to go back to my original passion. The thing is I still need to work while I study. I understand there will be practical parts to the course that perhaps I can do at the weekends. The study part though I was hoping to do at home in the evenings and weekends. Then when qualified I can leave where I am. The money wont be the same I know but I dont mind. I need to study qualification that is recognised in the UK. Thanks guys...as always. xxxx

Bunny, From my understanding of reading the British Veterinary Nursing Association and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons websites, you must do hands-on clinical work at one of several selected veterinary hospitals to train to be a Veterinary Nurse. http://www.bvna.org.uk/smartweb/become-a-vn-and-svns/overview However, you must have completed the assistant training prior to becoming a Veterinary Nurse and that can be done through day-release or correspondence but you must be working in a veterinary practice. http://www.bvna.org.uk/smartweb/anas/ana However, I'm from the US so I would recommend that you contact the British Veterinary Nursing Association directly and ask your questions. http://www.bvna.org.uk/smartweb/about-us/contact-us
