Is majoring in Biology difficult?

Is majoring in Biology or Business Mgmt & Marketing better? Why?

• I am interested in animals & science (Biology) and also in owning my own business (Busines Mgmt & Marketing). I was wondering which is better in terms of actually finding a job with a Bachelor is either of those... starting salary....types of jobs...etc. Prefer people who have experience with these particular majors. I am majoring in Biology right now (1st semester freshman), but have heard it is very hard to find a job (and I would prefer to stay in my town which is growing, but only has about 125,000 people). But Im only taking general courses, so I could switch. One thing Im afraid of with Business is that I wouldnt get approved for a loan to start a business because I dont have good/great credit. So if you try to get a loan with a bachelor in business, will they be more likely to disregard your current credit rating...or not? Also, what could you do otherwise in a growing city? So overall, which is better. I am interested in both... I like sciences (esp. animals) more... but I would love to own a business (I have several in mind).

  Wow, what a timely question. I just graduated with a double major in Business Mgt. AND Evolutionary Biology. I majored in both for the EXACT same reasons as yourself. What I found is that Business Mgt. has given me so much more leverage in finding work because business is essential and needed in every field (even biology). If you can manage correctly and efficiently you have reign over almost anything. On the other hand, my biology degree is almost useless for finding a career in biology/technology because everyone is looking for AT LEAST a masters or Ph.D. Not only that, but mgt has much more promise for promotion thus more earnings. Edit: Also, if you become self employed your income is unlimited...you will be able to dictate how much you earn by how much effort you put into a business. The possibilities are endless. In Biology, you are restrained and placed on salary.
