What kind of college degree do I need to be able to teach High School Art?

  • I'm a senior in high school, and looking at career options. I want to be an art teacher and be able to teach ap art at a high school. What kind of college degree do I need to get? Also, how many years of school will that be? I want to be a photographer outside of work too. Do I need a degree for that? Would an art degree cover both photography and high school art?

Well, saying you just want to teach AP art at a highschool is too specific. You are lucky to get any teaching job, especially in art as it's more specialized. But if you definitely want to teach art you can go to a school and major in art education. I'm not sure where you live but every state school around my area offers it. And it's a bachelors degree. And you'll have to double major if you want to do photography since it's not the same as art education.
