How can I get a job at McDonalds?

Can I get a part time job at McDonalds with a 2.2 GPA?

  • I'm sixteen years old and I'm thinking about getting a part-time job.I really slacked off my first 2 years of high school and my gpa got really low. Right now things aren't going very well around my house and the only person working is my mom. I really want to try to help out and get some money. I'm working really hard to get my grades up but I really want to try working ASAP. I don't want to wait another semester to raise my GPA. How much does McDonalds actually care about GPA? Is a 2.2 acceptable? Is there another place I can try to work for that doesn't care as much (Chick-Fil-A, Sonic, etc). What else can I do to raise my chances for getting a part time job?

  • Answer:

McDonald's, like most fast food places, doesn't care about your GPA. They just want to know that you can have the right attitude toward the job. My only concern is that if you take a job, you will spend even less time studying. I understand the need to help out at home, but make sure you don't ruin your future in the process. Some people find that a job makes them organize their lives better, so that they actually do better, but make sure that this is what happens, and that the job doesn't take over and cause you to start failing classes.

Mcdonalds doesn't care. Part time jobs are hard to come by in some places these days because people who are overqualified cant find work in their own arena so they dip into yours instead, and you dont stand a chance next to them. So put out as many applications as you can (not just if they are hiring-- as if they are ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS, not just hiring-- even if they arent hiring they may call you in a couple weeks when they are) and be ready to put on a good interview if you get called for any.

GPA doesn't really matter.. You could lie and put on your application that you have a 4.0, they don't really care. It's more a test to see your level of honesty, as well as to semi-judge your basic abilities. I've never applied for a job and had an employer call up a school and actually check on my GPA. Can't say it's really going to hurt you at all, anywhere. Just to be safe, you can always just put 3.0 GPA on the next application just to be sure.

Be well groomed Be courteous Fill out the application in full and use good penmanship Millions of people are out of work and taking any job they can get, so dont be surprised if you dont get a job. Dont take personally.. Its the US going down the drain before our very eyes.

GPA is not checked when applying to McDonald's. We check criminal record, standing in community etc. (with fairly slack requirements) but not high school GPA. good luck!

I don't really think most places of employment will care about your GPA. If anything you can try a clothing store at the mall or and supermarket. My first job was at a smoothie place and they never asked me about my GPA.

You can get a job at McDonalds with a 0.0 GPA. If you convince the manager that you have integrity and you will give it your best, he/she will hire you no matter what your GPA is.
