What is a good GPA to transfer to CSULB?

Transfer from community college to the university... and then to law school. What happens to my GPA?

  • Let's say that I get my AA in community college with 3.0 GPA. Then I'm going to transfer to the university to get my bachelors degree. What happens to my GPA here? Do my credits only transfer or my GPA transfers too? In other words what if in the university I get A grades on everything. Does it mean that I'll graduate with 4.0 GPA? Or my GPA will be 3.5? After that I'm planing to go to the law school. Will they take in consideration my both university and cc grades or university only? Thank you!!!

  • Answer:

For your bachelor's degree, most likely your AA credits will transfer, but GPA will not. I suggest speaking with an admissions person at your new institution. Both your GPA and your credits will transfer for law school application purposes. Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) will generate a report with your cumulative GPA (your AA & Bachelor's), and law schools must review your file based on your cumulative GPA. Good luck with law school!

Other answers

your credits will transfer, your GPA usually doesn't to the new school. Your law school application will most likely go mostly on your university grades since that is the advanced coursework. Good luck!
