What should I do to prepare for college?

What do I need to do to prepare for college?

  • I'll be entering my senior year this year and I need to start preparing for college. I already applied to the college I want to go to (Michigan Technological University), I haven't sent in my transcript though yet. Other than that, what is the best way I can prepare for college when it starts for me in the fall of 2009? If you need any additional details, I'll be glad to add them.

Hey. I'm going into the same field as you but I'm at Toledo University in Ohio. We have connections to NASA here so if you live near or in Ohio, try looking it up and see if you like it. As for preparing, have you filled out fafsa? Got grants, talked to counselor? I heard that you can get a grant if you finish all this stuff before Dec, not sure but.... I'll give you the link. Will you live on campus? Etc, it's kind of to early for everything, so relax. Good luck!

You freaken bastard I wish I had somone like me around to tell me this five years ago! Rule Number One get a part time Job before you even start your classes. Rule Number Two never quit your job because of college. If you hate your job tough it out untill you find one you like. Never quit it. I assure you if you go to college without a job your gonna notice that eveyone else has a job, then your gonna wish you had a job too. No matter how smart you are, You wont be able to survive college without money.

Get your GPA up. Participate in school activities. Study for your ACT/SAT, maybe get a tutor, sign up early so you can take it a couple of times to raise your score. Talk to your school counselor about everything else. By the way, you shouldve been preparing for college the day you started your freshman year.

Start getting supplies, furniture, bed blankets, etc. for your dorm. You should have extra notebooks and folders, more then it says you will need, start using laptops because you have to have laptops for college. Search up things all about your college so you can fit in and be prepared for what you are going to learn

There are a lot of things you can do. Have you decided on a major? If so, visit the campus and meet some of the profs in your field. Read everything you can find in your field. You'll probably have to take some general studies courses, such as English and History. Try to get the reading list and start on that. That's enough for a start. Good luck!

The two areas most students need to work on are reading and writing. Take a writing course, especially journalism, since you will learn to write well and regardless of your college major, this will help you greatly. Reading skills also need to be improved through AP courses such as history and English. Lastly, work on study skills such as outlining and note taking of material. Good luck!
