What are the pros and cons of becoming a Medical Assistant?

• 1. I am thinking about getting certified as a Medical Assistant in order to put myself through further schooling. Would this be possible? 2. How much does it cost to take the classes? 3. What kind of opportunities are offered internationally for this job? 4. Are there any options for promotion or salary upgrade as a Medical Assistant? 5. What are the hours like? 6. Anything else I should consider? Thanks. Please note I am talking about medical assisting, not nurse's assistants. I am doing research on my own but would like to hear from others too.

  1. Yes, since most medical schools ask for some type of experience and education in the medical field. So if your thinking of being an M.D. or anything related in the medical field , your going on the right path. 2 It all depends of the college or university your attend, you can get the A.A. in community college, which makes things way more cheaper. Most community colleges charge about 25 to 30 dollars a credit, it beats paying 600 dollars a credit which would be what you would most likely pay in a University. 3. In Europe, since the decreased birth rate, there is soon to be a shortage of professionals, this means there will be jobs available. Here in the U.S. statistics show that the shortage of professionals will be 6 million. Meaning, you will have a job when you graduate. 4. There is salary promotions that may be given. About promotions, that would most likely require a higher degree. 5. Normal work days for people in the medical field are about 6 days a week , but since your in the medical field it may require sometimes 7 days a week. 6.
