What do I need to get into community college?

Do you need a G.E.D to get into community college? ?

  • I'm trying to get my GED right now, but I'm anxious to start college, can i just go now? or do i have to have a GED? my friend at school insists i can get in without a GED, but i think i need one.

Yes, you will need a G.E.D or a high school diploma to get into community college...the one I went to you had to have one of either but if you didn't have a G.E.D they'd let you go ahead & start but you had 3-6 months to get one....Your best bet would be to go to the school & see what they say

no you need the GED first, otherwise any drop out who didn't know anything could go to college and would fail. having the GED shows that you have a base knowledge to succeed in college. good luck

You need a GED to get into one (usually, some don't require one, but those are usually more shabby than others) Some community colleges do not accept GED's however, so check that college's website to see if they accept them before you apply.

i don't think so, but you will need a transcript. they have placement tests for people without education so they can put you where you need to start, for example pre algebra. or a fundamental class.
