What are the best Universities in the US and UK to study History and/or English Language/Linguistics?

    Hey Cinnamon ~ I found this on our very own Yahoo! http://education.yahoo.com/college/essentials/school_rankings/college/ The "2007 Top 10 Dream Colleges of Students and Parents" very interesting, and the U.S. News and World Report included a list of Liberal Arts schools.

As far as linguistics is concerned: MIT (US) and UCL (UK) -- more scientific aspects of linguistics Harvard (US) and Oxford (UK) -- philology and historical linguistics Except for MIT, all of those have strong history departments as well. Good luck.
