Summer studying abroad?

When should I apply for internships for the upcoming summer, if I'm studying abroad until mid-June?

• I want to find an internship for this upcoming summer, but I'm studying abroad until mid June. I would like to find something where I could begin interning in July, and continue until December. When should I begin applying? There are many internship postings right now, but since I am abroad, I am not able to participate in an interview until I return in mid-June. I'm worried that there won't be as many postings for internships if I wait. What should I do?

  I'd definitely apply right now. State in your cover letter what you mentioned in your post: that you are looking to start interning in the summer. Usually employers conduct phone interviews first anyway. But definitely don't wait to the last minute. And don't forget that internships are supposed to be paid (contrary to what many people believe), but if no pay or paid doesn't seem to bother you than that's okay of course since internship is primarily for you to gain experience anyway).
