How much can I improve my LSAT score?

What type of LSAT score and GMAT score would I need to get into a top program with a 3.85 GPA?

  • I have a 3.85 GPA at Mays Business College of Texas A&M University, I expect to graduate with at least 3.9. What type of LSAT score and GMAT score would I need to get into a top JD/MBA program (top 5-10 programs)? How should I prepare to for the GMAT/LSAT tests?

  • Answer:

Actually, you don't typically apply to a JD/MBA program, specifically. The way this usually works is, you apply to law school, then once you complete your first year of law school, you apply to the MBA program. Then, once you start your dual-degree program, you will complete core classes in each discipline, but your business school classes will become your law school electives....and vice-versa. So, if what you're looking for is a top "5-10 program", then I'd be most concerned with making yourself as attractive as possible to the top five or ten law schools...because the best law schools also tend to have the best business schools (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Duke, Princeton, etc...etc...etc...). As far as advice......first of all, get your grades up as high as you can (which it sounds like you're already doing). Also, you'll need to work as hard as possible on your law school application essays and cultivate your relationships with professors to get good recommendations. Do whatever you can to prepare for the LSAT...but don't waste your money with the prep courses. Get some of the books (Kaplan and Princeton Review are good) and take the practice tests.... Best of luck to you!!! EDIT: You asked what kind of test score you need to get in....well, put it this way, you're going to have to score at least 170 on the LSAT to even have a shot at Yale, Harvard, or Stanford, regardless of your undergrad GPA. Ratchet that back to about 165 to have a shot at Notre Dame, Northwestern, or Duke. Anything less, and you might have to re-evaluate your choice of schools. Keep in mind that I'm not saying this to discourage you in any way...just telling you what you're going to have to do to achieve your goal of a top 10 school. Again...best of luck!!!

I would contact the law schools that you are interested in going to. As far as I know, most law school don't require the GMAT if you are going for the dual law/mba degree .
