Study Abroad in High School Or College?

Does what I study in high school affect what I can do in college?

• Right now, I'm in tenth grade and have to schedule the next two years of my high school path because I'm in the accelerated IB Diploma program. I'm trying my best to explore my options, but I'm afraid that if I don't take physics or a higher level biology course (I took it in 9th grade), I may not be able to go into the medical field if I choose to do so. I just want to know how much your high school classes and experience effect what you can do in college.

  your high school transcript means a lot..a college curriculum in the medical field will require a certain average grade in certain science and math courses.. it's the smart student who makes those grades in high school; that, or end up remedial courses in college to catch up and match the required grade level for your major. Usually its a safe bet to take all the math and science courses offered to you in high school..science is the key to medicine ,and math is the key to science. the objective of your accelerated program is to see how far you yourself can push the envelope...its a chance to exercise and develop your full potential. if you get to college without a solid background in those areas, from high school, then you would be wasting time and money making up those courses in their classrooms...it would be a lot more expedient, and less expensive, to take those courses now, while tuition is either free or private school scale, and not college tuition scale for high school math and science. you must qualify, usually by testing, in those areas of math and science, before acceptance into a pre med program.
