Should I go to college then university or straight to university?

Should I go to a community college or straight to a 4 year university?

  • I have grades to get into a 4 year university but I'm not sure if my parents are ready for me to leave (I can handle my own if I go away). The only doubt I have for my self to go away is; I will be getting surhery on my kidney right before the fall (freshman year of college).

  • Answer:

For me, Community College was a great transition into a four year university. Also, money was a big deal, and I avoided paying out-of-state- tuition fees by going to a CC and it also boosted my GPA. It all depends on the person I guess, but I see absolutely no harm in going to CC first and then a university. Lots of people think that if you go to a CC you aren't smart enough to get into a real university, don't believe it though. I'm almost a senior in college with a 4.0! So just do whatever makes you happy and comfortable!

I wish I had went to a community college!! Depends on your situation. Staying home for mom and dad is not a good reason to go. If you know where you wanna go and what you wanna do and can handle your own being away from home-go ahead to 4 year university. but if your unsure of what school, what major and how you'll do I'd take community college. Also if your grades are low, or you just don't think you'd do as well transitioning from High school to college. If you don't feel prepared for college by early January of your senior year, I'd definitely just go to CC.
