Would it be a good idea to send my SAT scores to the schools I really want to go to?
-
I'm taking the SATs for the first time on Dec (I was always too late for registration and didn't want to pay fee), and I'm just wondering, would it be a good idea to send my scores to colleges I really want to go to? Cause I won't even know the scores, so what if they're really bad?

Answer:
If you've used any sort of practice materials to prepare for the test, you should have a good idea of your possible SAT score. I use the College Board's "Ten Real SAT's" every time I took the tests, and every time I was able to estimate my grade range based on the tests in the book. I suggest you get that book if you haven't already and either just work through all the tests or pick a few at random to work through so you can estimate your score. Just make sure you do more than one test so you can get an accurate range. The other thing to consider is application deadlines, whether or not you would be sending your scores once the deadlines have passed, and whether or not the schools of your choice would be fine with that. If it is okay or if you will get your scores AND have time to send then to your schools of choice before the deadlines then yes, wait until you see your scores. If sending late scores is NOT okay, you might be better off taking advantage of the offer of sending scores to four schools for free even if you don't know your scores yet. There are lots of other factors than just SAT scores in determining college admissions anyway.

Yes, you need to send them your scores, 99% of schools have it be mandatory of sending either that ACT or the SAT. Send it has soon as possible!

The schools will most certainly request your scores when they're considering your application. You can send them in later, though, rather than choosing to have them sent in automatically. That would give you a chance to retake them later if you score really poorly.

ya you should since you can always take them again

You have to. A school won't admit you without your SAT scores.

Yes. It will be a good idea most colleges require them. But you could see how well you do first. But I took the test twice to make a higher score and sent both scores to the college I attended.
