Which is harder: Optometry or Veterinary Science?

Should you do a bachelor of science degree or a professional degree of Optometry (OD)?

  • So after highschool i want to become an optometrist what should I do ?.. do a Bachelor of Science or professional degree of Optometry (OD)? or is it the same thing? Im so confused if becoming an optometrist, what education do you pursue after highschool?

  • Answer:

After high school you should go to college and complete a bachelor's degree. It doesn't matter what major you take as long as you include the sciences required for optometry. You must include a full year of the following subjects in college: General Chemistry, General Biology, General Physics One semester of Microbiology Any other courses required by the O.D. school you plan to attend, such as: Organic Chemistry, Calculus, Statistics. In other words, you must complete a college degree (some institutions admit students with three years of college but they highly recommend that you complete your four-year degree) and then you attend a professional school to complete your O.D. studies.
