How do you become a personal trainer??
-
Can anyone tell me the best way to become a personal trainer or something similar because I love fitness and I plan to keep fit all throughout my life. I don't know where to start because i'm on my last year of school and I haven't really researched about it. What inspired me was The Biggest Loser and various other things. I was planning to become fit at the end of the year because I have to focus on my schooling because I want a good HSC. Any suggestion's would be great thanks.

Answer:
Well the first step is becoming certified. There are many certification companies out there. Be careful with choosing. Make sure whoever you choose if accredited by a third body such as NOCA/NCCA ,IACET, DETC. Most all gyms and certification will require you to become CPR certified-so in case of an emergency you will know what to do. There are different packages you can get with certification. DVDS , extra workbooks, practice , workshops. Make sure you get as much as you think you will need , so you can be prepared for the exam you will be required to take to become a certified PT. Out of all the certifications out there I personally recommend IFPA. I have come to find their material is very practical for what you will experence in the "real world". The workshop I attend was very good. I actually enjoyed it. And the people that work at IFPA help you out. Best of Luck!

I think your best bet is IFPA. The other guy said it all. I have had experience with other certifications too. and I think IFPA is best in the industry.

Research majors such as Recreation Education, Theraputic Recreation, Exercise Science. Science degrees like physiology and kinesiology also work. In addition personal trainers often start out by taking classes to become certified. They then may begin by working alongside an experienced trainer before being allowed to train clients alone.

All you have to do is take a CPT test. The most widely accepted one is ACSM. NSCA is also pretty good, there are a whole bunch actually. You don't need a degree, and courses are optional. I took the test after a couple months of self study. Edit: A.C.E. is good too, like guy below me said.

There are several accredited organizations you can go through to get become a personal trainer. Once you pass the test and receive your certification, you will be able to get a job at pretty much any gym. I started with A.C.E., which is the American Council on Exercise. Once I had some experience under my belt, I went with NASM which is the National Academy of Sports and Medicine. You can google both and get the appropriate materials required for taking each respective test.
