Which field in the IT is best for career in the future?

What should I do to gain knowledge in my field and help me in a future career?

  • I am a full time student majoring in Mass Communications/Journalism, and I'm hoping for a career in journalism someday, hopefully at a magazine. I've still got a lot of school to go, and only have the availability for part time. I've tried to find internships, but I have zero experience. I want to have something to put on my resumee, and gain some experience in the field. However, I don't have much time and I need to pay the bills too. Any suggestions?

    Try to write some freelance articles for smaller special insterest magazines and local newspapers in your spare time to get some "clips" (published stories). Look at Writer's Market--it's a book you can purchase or get from the library. It lists all of the magazines etc. Try your local newspaper and the paper at your college. Internships are for people with no experience--so keep looking. Some are unpaid though. Consider a career in public relations--you get paid more and you write all day.

Try to get a job with a temp agency. Let them know your interests. Ask your professors of any opportunities they may know of. Also, it would be nice to volunteer some of your time if only 10 hours a week at the local (popular) radio/news station. So, it sounds like an internship, but it is more of resume builder for u.
