What's the difference between the SAT and the ACT?

  • I know the ACT has science reasoning in it and has a different scoring system. But, do specific universities actually require the ACT instead of the SAT, and vice versa?

  • Answer:

Some schools require the SAT, and not the ACT. Most of the schools i applied to accepted both. But some required the SAT and the SAT II(ACT was optional). None required the ACT. You should check with the schools that you are thinking about applying to, or you may want to take both just in case. You may do better on one than than the other and that can make a difference on acceptance, scholarships, etc... (it did for me. I did better on the SAT and got a full scholarship)
