Chances of getting into university of penn?

What are my chances of getting into Penn state main campus for engineering?

  • I am a sophomore in high school. I am interested in engineering. I am thinking about Penn state as one of my top choices for colleges. Last year as a freshman I had a 3.55 gpa with two honors classes. This year I have a 3.8 so far also with two honors classes. Last year I played lacrosse, wrestled, and did track for my high school. This year I did wrestling and will do lacrosse. I am expecting my gpa to go up further. Last year I was 174/749 kids in my class at the 20th percentile which of course went up this yer. On the PSAT I got a 1590. I am a Connecticut resident. What do youthink my chances of getting into Penn state university park school of enineering are ? What other colleges would you reccomend?

  • Answer:

What honors classes are you taking? It would help to take honors science and math, and I'd suggest taking AP Physics and AP Calculus if they're available. Your GPA is above average, and if it goes up like you say then you'll be in good shape. I'd suggest studying for your next PSAT. You look pretty good on extra-curricular activities; I'd suggest doing something outside of sports too though. Volunteering is a good idea (even though I can't even get myself to do it) Penn State is a very competitive school for admissions. I'm not too familiar with the engineering programs up there. Stanford and MIT of course are good engineering schools, but they'd just be harder to get into.
