What does it take to become a Pediatrician?

What does it take to become a pediatrician?

  • I just started my senior year in high school and I am 100% positive that I want to be a pediatrician. What steps do I have to take from here, on in order to accomplish my life long dream of being a pediatrician?

  • Answer:

Excellent grades and high test scores are great, but you should start volunteering to show college admissions panels that you know what you're getting into it and that you are truly interested. Try a children's hospital, pediatric unit or similar to get involved with. Good luck!

depending on what country you are staying..In most countries, they require you to take first a four-year preparatory degree like biology or zoology. After that, you maybe need to pass an exam to qualify to study medicine (proper) and that would take 4-5 years and then you need to pass the board exams to have the license. By this time, you are already a general practitioner. Then you need to take again specialization. It is during this time that you decide whether you want to become a pediatrician, an obygyne or a surgeon, or one specialyzing in internal medicine. So, basically, its still a long way to go.good luck
