Thinking to prepare for GATE 2012.. how and when shall i start working?

i am now in final year BE and am thinking to prepare for GATE 2012.. how and when shall i start working?? is that necessary to get training at some institute?
Answer:

take out the syllabus from GATE website and start preparing right away. In my opinion you do not need any institute/ coaching as such. read good books- find the list for your stream and keep your concepts clear. All the Best.
