What is college actually like?

I hate college, what can I do to like it better?

  • I am a sophomore and I really hate college. The excessive work, the snobby people and jocks at my school, being away 3 hours from home (the only place I feel welcome), everything. The only reason I go to college is because if I don't, I won't get a good job. If I could get a high paying job without college, or if someone on the street gave me a billion dollars, I would never have gone. The only thing about college I like is the long winter break and not having class everyday. And literally, the thing I look forward to the most in college is going home. And to those who say transfer, I don't think that will have a big impact. My problem isn't the specific college I go to, its college life in general that bothers me. I constantly have anxiety about college and its destroying my self esteem and mental health. No matter how many things I try (like joining clubs, and going to parties) I just can't stop hating it. I really try to love college, but it simply doesn't love me back. At the same time, while I understand college isn't for everyone, I would feel real guilty dropping out.

  • Answer:

Consider a part time job. I was so busy for those 4 years (I worked full time through college) that I didn't even know how fast time flew by. Honestly, look for a part time job. It just sounds like you are depending on others to make you socially happy. Only you, can make yourself happy.
