What is my SAT Score?

What is a good SAT reasoning score?

  • what exactly is an average SAT score(for the new one)? i got a 1720 when i took it the first time and im not even sure if thats a good score....i got a 27 on my ACT and i have a 3.8 GPA. does my SAT score fit in with the rest of my academic achievements or should i take it again?

  • Answer:

Well, the new SAT has three sections: verbal, math, and critical reading with a possible score of 200-800 on each part, meaning the highest possible score is a 2400. On the old SAT a 1600 was the highest possible score, since it only included the verbal and math sections. A 1720 seems like a pretty consistent composite score in line with a 27 composite ACT score and a 3.8 GPA. According to what I've read, the average SAT score is somewhere around 1538. One thing you should look at, though, is the scores on the individual sections, because most colleges will look at that.
