How much does a physician assistant get paid?

How to get paid clinical experience? (Physician's Assistant)?

  • I'm currently in college, getting my BS in Biology so I can become a Physician's Assistant. I've been looking into PA programs and a lot require 2000 hours of hands-on clinical experience (either volunteer or paid). Well I know I can get 2000 hours of volunteer experience but some programs only accept the hours if they are paid. How do I get paid clinical experience as a college student? Any ideas? I feel like I'm missing something very obvious

  • Answer:

Just take a CNA or EMT course. That's what I did. These are the only programs that I can think of that don't require a lot of time and you can easily get a job on weekends. Start ASAP. I'm a freshman in college and Bio major too. Now I'm sending out applications to nursing homes and I will volunteer later on. Shadow a PA too! That's very important. One more thing. Getting accepted into a PA program straight out of college will be tough. We are going to compete with RNs, Paramedics, CMAs, and people who have way more experience than us. People in their late 20s and 30s usually apply. I like to think of it this was: grades for medical school, experience for PA school. Do as much as you can and get involve in a lot of things.
