What should I do to study in Oxford university or cambridge university?

What is life like at Oxford University?

• I will be attending Oxford in a study abroad program within the next two years and I just wanted to know a few things about the atmosphere, the way classes are run, and any other helpful tips. I know university in Europe is a lot different than in the United States and I was just wondering exactly what those differences are and how long it might take me to adjust. I've been to England before and absolutely loved it. Granted, I've only been to London and Cambridge, I assume Oxford is just as wonderful. I'd appreciate any helpful advice! Thanks! P.S. I was born in Canada but just happen to be living in the U.S. therefore I don't think I should have any problems there. Not sure if it is just a rumor but I don't believe Americans are rather well-accepted in Europe, at least that was my interpretation of what I saw when I was there a few years ago.

  I know a lot of American students at another Oxford college and they have all settled in very quickly. You'll find the way courses are laid out a bit different - you don't have majors and minors, you'll read for specified set papers, have weekly one-on-one or two-on-one tutorials discussing your essays, etc. - and there's no 'campus' - everything is spread out across the city. (Seriously, the number of times you'll hear tourists asking where the campus is will infuriate you after a while) As a city, Oxford is a bit on the expensive side but it's well worth it. There's plenty of pubs, bars, clubs etc, music venues, theatres, etc. There's good shopping and if you do want to explore the country Oxford is well connected by bus, train, and coach.
