Where can I find cheap textbooks?

Where to find VERY cheap textbooks? (Need a Sociology book)?

  • Is there a good website to buy college textbooks REALLY cheap? OR, a website where people can trade/lend/share textbooks? I am looking for "Sociology: A Global Perspective" 7th Edition, by Joan Ferrante

  • Answer:

I always sell my textbooks to ecampus, one of the largest book stores online: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=89703&U=366479&M=13375 You can also sell your old textbooks back to them for some cash

Find a friend in that class and photo copy all the pages in the book. Its not cheating. Its using your resources(:

The cheapest way to find college textbooks is buy putting up index cards on the bulletin boards around school. Also contact your professor. He/She may have past students they can put you in contact with. You can often find copies of textbooks in the library. I saved thousands of dollars just by going to the college library. P.S. I just read an sociology article by Dr. Robert B. Cialdini. Very interesting. I posted the link below.

If you photo-copy a text book at someplace like Kinko's or something, they will call the cops on your because it is against the LAW. By LAW you cannot copy textbooks and many universities and colleges will expel you if they discover such a fact. "Using your resources" is ridiculous. Chegg.com has been my go to for forever now and they have never done me wrong. The quality with Amazon.com and Half.com is terrible and the shipping time for both is ridiculous but with Chegg, I've gotten my books as early as two days after ordering. On my last order I saved $63.82 for just a couple of books. If you use the code CC118271 you'll save 5% on your entire order and $5 back if you want to sell other textbooks to Chegg. Sending them back is a breeze and any place in which I can rent a textbook for less than half of what it would be for me to buy it is a good one. Oh, and they also throw in free goodies with every order. :)

I second textbook rental websites like chegg.com....I've tried it and they're reliable. Don't be scared to rent from chegg.com, in the longrun renting saves money. Sometimes it doesn't. The rental price sometimes tends to be the same as the selling price in the college bookstore in your college. So for my communication course I just ended up buying the textbook but I'm going to resell it after my class is over to my college bookstore. For the most part renting tends to be cheaper.

I agree with Maddi. I always use http://www.bigwords.com In fact I've gone on there and looked it up for you and found it for only $36.90 (including shipping!!!) See here: http://www3.bigwords.com/details/book/Sociology_A_Global_Perspective/9780495390916/0495390917 Bigwords is a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers (including amazon, half, ebay etc) and rental sites (including chegg, bookrenter etc) to find you the best prices. You can even use them at the end of the semester to search for resellers to sell your books to.

Check out http://www.bookuet.com to compare textbooks prices at multiple online stores. The site also includes rental prices as well as option to find a local store.

I always use half.com Check with the professor, you might be able to get away with the 6th edition and that will be much cheaper.
