What community colleges guarantee admission to UC's?

Do most colleges expect or require community service to be considered for admission?

  • If so, how much do you recommend I do? Do selective private schools want more service than less selective public schools? If I dont do any community service will it ruin my chance at gaining acceptance?

  • Answer:

Well, community service is not required by colleges, but it will make your application look better than someone else's. The amount of hours you should do depends on the college you want to go to. Junior colleges hardly need any, while more selective colleges like Ivy league Universities may be looking for those who have done 100+ hours a year. It all depends on how selective each college is. The more selective, the more competitive it is. Just keep in mind that more community service hours won't hurt.

Some colleges do not look at it if you have done summer camps and internships in your desired subjets. Doing a community service to gain just hours is waste of time.

I agree. It can be more about what extracurriculars you did, whether you played sports, sang, volunteered, or whatever. They like to see that you participated in things that you liked. They especially like to see you taking leadership more than doing community service. Do what you do for You! Develop who you are and the admissions department might be able to know more about you and be more willing to let you in if they think you will fit in well there. On a side note, I would encourage you to volunteer anyway, college application or not, because it helps the community and might be fun for you. There are so many ways to help that there's bound to be something for you. Also, it just feels good to be appreciated by those you help :)

one point

Yeah volunteer as much as poscible cause colleges and scholarships look for that... make a list of everything thing you do as you do it so you won't have to waste time tryin to recall....
