What can you tell me about Pa?

Can someone who lives in PA tell me exactly what a LPN does, and does not do?

  • I know it differs from state to state. I need as much info as I can get on LPNs.

  • Answer:

LPN stands for Licenced practical nurse RN stands for registered nurse the difference is the amount of school credits and certain procedures they are allowed to do such as charting, starting IV's, Medical procedures etc.. It is almost like having a bachelor degree vs a masters, these vary from state to state and there is a great need for both. The LPN is usually the 1st step to becoming a RN, then an RN with a cardio certification etc. It is all based on school time and where you want to end up in the proffesional world. I know LPNs who have been working for over 20 years and have all the skills a RN has but never took the time to get the academic credits.
