What looks better in a college aplication?

Everyone looks down upon community college.?

  • Why? It's starting to rub off onto me, I get gets from the high 80s to high 90s, and I don't think I should go to Suffolk Community College. I would like to go to a SUNY or CUNY college, but mainly NYU, I can't though because it's not really affordable and I REALLY DON'T want to go to Suffolk, much rather a smart school like NYU so it's not like I make myself look stupid. It will be so embarrassing to tell people I have to go to community college, especially because people look down upon it, make fun of it. One kid who literally has a 100GPA and is trying to get into an Ivy League, his friend jokingly asked what if the only college he got accepted to what suffolk, and he said he'd just not go.(Of course he would have to, but that won't happen, especially because the area I live in are full of rich kids who can actually afford that which pisses me off)

Steven Here is your cliche for the day - Those who care don't matter and those who matter don't care. No Admissions Office is going to turn you down because you went to SCCC. You need to let go of this pretentious fantasy, Amigo.

I did my first 2 years of my undergrad at a Community college, it saves SO MUCH money on tuition. Most community colleges have transfer programs to universities anyways, so you go there knowing that you will end up with a 4 year degree from a university.

Not at all! (I don't, at least, and many people I know also do not.) Financially, community college is a wise decision. You can excel there for two years, saving money, and transfer to a university if you're pursuing a bachelor's degree. It's a smart choice :) Also, if you're not pursuing a career that requires a higher degree, an Associate's from community college is all you need. If you want an affordable university, you should look up other universities that are more generous than NYU, which is notorious for its bad financial aid. If you have the necessary test scores along with your good GPA, I definitely think you can get into a university that will offer you a fair amount of aid, if you're still a junior. If you're a senior, then you must be finished with the application process. In that case, just wait and see how much the schools you get into offer and weight the costs and benefits :) Talk to your counselor and parents about it, too! Good luck with everything!
