What is the hardest part of nursing school?
-
I just got my acceptance letter from a 2 year college for nursing. I will be a pre-nursing student until my clinical start date. What is the hardest part of nursing school? i will most likely have all my generals done before clinicals start. Will this make nursing school easier? Im a pretty good student so im not that freaked out about general courses but I am terrifed about clinicals!! so what was the hardest part of nursing school for you guys? I really want to be an nurse not just for the money or guaranteed job offer but because im a loving and sweet person and I love helping people. Im just scared nursing school is going to be down right hell. Please answer! :)

Answer:
Congrats, unfortunately I am a nurse and I hate nursing and am looking for another career. We are over worked and under paid and now patients and families can be extremely rude. Upper level management is usually clueless and because you have so many patients and not enough help when you do try to be caring and give that extra comfort measure or kind thought smile or hug you are being called away to do something else. I do love taking care of most of my patients but in a fast pace world you really do not have the time except to do assessments and hand out meds. Now to answer your question get Test Taking Skills for Nurses and Math for Meds this will teach you how to take the nursing test because more than one answer can be correct and will also help you with nursing math. PLEASE finish your pre reqs before starting your nursing classes it is to hard to do both. Clinicals are not that bad just remember to be prepared read over your drug your patients are taking and their diagnosis so when the teacher calls on you you have the answer. Please get those books I mentioned it will make life easier. Learn to take the test or your life in school will be hell. Also our motto and I always did better than this and I never had to repeat a class "77=RN" PS I knew I did not want to be a nurse my last semester of nursing and unfortunately many of my classmates felt the same way. Also many of the new grads I work with are also thinking about other careers. I think if we had more help such as techs, CNA's and extra nurses we may feel differently. Good Luck Sorry I am so negative but on a positive note get those books they were a tremendous help.
