Any cheap english speaking universities in Paris?

English speaking Universities in Japan?

  • I have always been interested in studying in Japan so would you mind listing some English speaking Universities in Japan? I've researched a bit and came up with a few schools such as Temple University and Akita International college. Are there more in Japan? I know that lots of Universities accept international students but you have to speak Japanese at the level a native Japanese would. My Japanese is only on a beginners level so that cuts many options. I would greatly appreciate it if you answered! Thank you!

  • Answer:

The Japanese government has an internationalization program called Global 30, the aim of which is to increase the number of foreign students studying in Japan, and thereby expose Japanese students to foreign cultures. The idea is to make the top universities into bilingual environments where everyone speaks Japanese and English interchangeably. 13 elite universities are part of this program. You can find the government's program website here http://www.uni.international.mext.go.jp/ The public universities charge domestic fees (about $6,500 per year), with the private unis being approximately double that. Most of the universities have some form of specialized scholarship (although other scholarships, such as the JASSO are available), and some give very good deals on fees. For example, I work at Tsukuba University (http://www.global.tsukuba.ac.jp), and we give 1st year free. All the classes will be in English, but you'll also be taught Japanese, and will have the opportunity to take classes alongside Japanese students. You can email me if you have any specific questions.

When you study abroad, you tend to go to either learn the language or become more fluent. You don't go just to go there and speak English. Chances are, they'll know little English and it gives you the chance to learn Japanese. Keep in mind studying in Japan will be hella expensive, so I would take the other route: go to college where you live and study abroad in Japan for 1 year (it will be about $10,000 for studying for a semester there). Anyway, you realistically cannot find English speaking universities. Think about it: Are there any Japanese-speaking universities here for Japanese students to feel comfortable with? No.

I know many of my friends who work in researches in Universities in Japan. Well the Japanese are very different nonetheless, they are very protective of their culture, and like my friends say, about 95% of the Japanese do not speak English, only so so basic English. So if you really want to study in Japan you really should enter some sort of Advance Japanese Language Classes :) Goodluck!
