What Courses Do I Need To Take To Become A Forensic Scientist?

• I wish to become a forensic scientist in the future but am a little bit unsure of which courses to take. Im pretty sure i need to take Chemistry and Biology but am not sure what else. Also, what level of maths do i need to study to achieve this? Thank you in advance

  Hi! Great question! You've got the right idea!--Chemistry, Biology, some Math, and probably at least some basic Computer Science course(s). Also, there are various types of forensic science, but if you have in mind that you'd like to work with the FBI or other government agency, or be there to collect homicidal evidence and things like that, yeah, you're thinking in the right direction. If that's what you're thinking about, Criminal Justice classes would probably also be very helpful! As far as the levels of these subjects, I would check into colleges which appeal to you most as to what they require. Go to google and search for: Occupational Outlook Handbook The government makes a new OOH every year, and it tells you projected earnings, working environments, and recommended education to have for just about any type of job that you can think of. You can find all of this online! This can help you tremendously as you decide what area you want to work in most.....you might even stumble across something you've never thought of before and find it to be more appealing....you never know!
