QUICK QUESTION: For your college essay, do you need a title? Do you need your name on it? Paper type?

regular paper is fine, and Yes put a title and your name but put it on a cover page

all those answers depend on what class ur writing for...if its an englich class, then more than likely ur teacher is expecting ur paper to be in MLA format.... With MLA yes u need a title, yes u need ur name on it (of course thats with any format), and u print on normal paper. U dont need resume paper unless ur printing a resume!! Title... yes. I ALWAYS put a title on it, even if the title is what the paper is. For instance: "Children's Essay" or "Summary of Chapter 1 of Such and Such Novel". I always Bold, italicize and center the title. You definitely need to put your name on it. Otherwise, how would your instructor know who write it. Regular paper unless it is a final exam project, then I would use more fancier paper.

Using resume paper is fine, just as long as the colour of the paper is not too off from white. Look in the guidelines for the school you are applying to to see if it is required, but if it is not it all depends on the opening paragraph of the paper. If the first paragraph shows the gist of the paper, then no, you do not need to put a title on it. If you want though, an abstract title might not be a bad idea, to show them that you are a bit creative. For example, if your essay is about the most influential person in your life (lets say your Grandfather), you could title it "Paps, Poker, and Petey" (because your Grandfather's nickname was Paps, he taught you how to play poker, and he gave you a dog named Petey). If you use a title then you could just put your name under the title (but don't say "by Whatever Your Name Is"... just use your name. Make sure both your title and name are centered. If you do not use a title then I would recommend using the header for your name (top left) and date (top right), and insert the page number on the bottom (centered). Do not print front and back, just on one side of the paper. Use one inch margins. Double space. And 12 point New Times Roman font. And for crying outloud, read your essay before you send it in, and have someone else read it. Then read it again... You will not get it right the first time, you will have to edit it and rewrite some parts... Good luck!
