Is calstate longbeach a good school?

Is it worth going to a UC school if that school is Merced?

• I actually checked the average SAT scores for people who go to that school and it is far below some CalState schools like Cal Poly Ponoma and especially Cal Poly SLO. The reason I'm asking is because one of my siblings is contemplating going there when everyone else in the family is trying to convince him to go the other way (the much affordable CSU option).

• Answer:

  CPSLO is a better choice for engineering and related majors. CPP does not particularly stand out the same way CPSLO does and I would choose UCM over CPP if UCM offered my major. I would not attend any other CSU, except possibly Sonoma State, rather than UCM. The exception is because SSU is my alma mater and I had a superb but unique experience there. Of course I cannot predict that another SSU student will study with professors and students similar to those who were part of my education. None of those professors and students are still at Sonoma, with one exception, and that professor does not teach full time.
