What are some good colleges for a film making major?

• where do most people study film making? are there schools that specifically teach ONLY film making? does it take four years, just like a college degree? is film making even considered a college major? if so, does that mean that i would need to get a "Bachelor's in Film" to have a shot at a job with a major hollywood studio? do smaller schools like community colleges and technical colleges usually offer film study to transfer to a university? i know that's a lot of questions, and any of them that you can answer would be much appreciated, as well as any additional information you know.   Let me tell you one thing, going to schools like UCLA, USC, NYU etc are not worth it! If you want to attend a film school to get training i would suggest a smaller school like palm beach film school, or international film institute of new york. USC and NYU are good schools but the curriculum is based mostly on film theory not actual hands on learning. For example, in a class at NYU they would be giving you a book telling you how to set up lights. But if you went to a more hands on learning type of school, instead of giving you the book, they would give you the lights and tell you to set it up, so you learn by doing. And a bachelors degree in film wont necessarily get you a good paying job in the industry. Most grads from film school end up in entry level positions such as PA's, and grips. So why spend all that money at a film school to get a job as a PA. My advice to you is go to a smaller cheaper school that has a hand on learning type of program that trains in months or weeks, then get an internship or a entry level job in the industry and work your way up. And make your own short films while at it. Thats what I'll be doing. Good luck
