What can I do with a masters degree in history? ?

    Don't listen to any of the "nothing" answers. Let me give you a few names of people who have history degrees. Edward Norton, Wolf Blitzer, Conan O'Brien, George Bush, Amanda Peet, Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt, Martha Stewart, etc. History relates to a lot of things. You can get into politics, teaching (this doesn't just restrict you to high school or elementary school, you can become a university professor), writing history books, journalism, the list is endless. Get the masters if you love history, I would.

Teach, although you'll need a teacher's certification to teach in High Schools and a PhD to be a college professor. You can always end up being one of those commentators on History Channel shows. Don't let anyone tell you that there is nothing you can do with any degree. If that were true, it wouldn't be offered. If you have the passion and drive you can succeed. You can be an author, historian, freelance writer, teacher, or find work in a museum. If you like history, I suggest finding a good MLIS program with a history concentration.

Yes. Go for your masters. You are already in school and I'm sure you want to be done but it will be worth it. If you have that on your resume you will be at the top of the stack as far as employers go.
