What is the specific job of an occupational and industrial in nursing fields?

Will having associate degrees in other fields benefit me if I have a bachelors degree in a different field?

  • i'm getting ready to transfer to a 4-year university from a community college and i'm about to earn 2 associate degrees that are far related from my main major. my ultimate goal is a bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN). should i continue working on graduating/transfering with the associate degrees and at the same time or should i just transfer plainly without the associate degrees? i finished all my requirements and general education core classes done and i've got all my prereqs and everything completed. would having a bachelor's degree along with 2 other degrees in unrelated and different fields make me seem more attractive in the job market or do those that hire only care about the highest degree and disregard the associates if you have one? does having a bachelor's degree seem more better that the associates degree even though they're of another field? does the bachelor's degree mask the others or does the 2 associate degrees show well-roundedness? for example, I'm planning on getting an AS in Health Science and an AA in Social Science since i'm close to getting them both and transfer at the same time. Then transfer for a BS in Nursing to a 4-year university. If I apply for a job, will the 2 associate degrees help me even though I have a bachelor's? is there any benefit to that?

  • Answer:

The way I see it, the more you study the more options you'll have. It doesn't necessarily make you "more attractive" in the job market, since people hiring usually know what skill set they currently want. You can, however, apply to different types of jobs with a varied skill set. So, to answer your question, not necessarily. It may benefit you if you have an AS in something similar to what you'll get your BA on. For example, if I get a BA in Management and I get an ASQ Certification, the certification will make me eye-candy when I apply for a managerial position. However, if I study management and I get a certification as a band conductor, the latter won't be considered for my application to a managerial position. Just like the band I conduct won't care what my BA is on. Hope I helped!
