Is this a good student resume?

• As a college student who has had limited work experience and even fewer accomplishments, I feel like it would be impossible for me to dig up enough to put in a resume. What's more I don't really even know how to write one. But soon I will be looking for internships and possibly jobs and people will expect me to have a resume. Are there any websites or anything that are specifically for helping students write a good resume?

  First, lets stop thinking in terms of having no accomplishments. You have made it into college and are at the point where internships are looming. Thats quite a major accomplishment. Remember that employers don't expect a student to have tons of experience. Here's how you write a resume. One or two pages is more than sufficient at your stage. Have these categories. 1. Name and Contact Information. 2. Objective: "To locate an internship in my field of study (whatever that is) 3. Education 4. Work History. You say you have limited work history, so you must have some. Did you have a paper route? Babysit? 5. Volunteer Activities. This is where you need to spend some time thinking. Have you participated in school council or other commttees? Have you volunteered your time with any community organization or church? This is the place to have it. 6. Awards and Recognition. Mention any thing you may have achieved. Omit this if nothing comes to mind. 7. Skills and Abilities. Spend some time thinking about this. This suggests skills and abilities beyond what you are expected to have learned in your college courses. Do you have computer skills? That's very important these days. Have you shown leadership abilities in some way? Do you drive (if appropriate for the type of job you are applying for). Have you demonstrated people skills? Have you been a good team player? Spend some time thinking about the employer and what they want to find in the person they hire for an internship. Does the position require someone who is highly organized, for example? If yes, find a way to fit that into your resume, in whichever category is most appropriate. Every employer is looking for two things when they hire. They want someone who has the skills to do the job, and they want someone who will be a good fit for the workplace. In other words, find a way to show you won't be a nighmare to supervise and you'll be ahead of a lot of other applicants. Good luck.
