How Should I Prepare Myself To Meet People At College?

Think of some questions you might ask people about themselves ahead of time. People tend to be most positive about you if you get them to talk about themselves, rather than if you talk about yourself. Having a set of questions in mind helps you to get them going.

i think that u should be urself-to a degree. like for me i'm nervous around people at first and act my usuall personality thats toned down alittle and then as i get to kno them better i can let it show more!! just not all at once so they get freaked out!!! i also have sum questions i thought about to ask people to start off a conversations so there r no awkward pauses!remember to talk slowly and think about wat u want to say!!

Don't worry about making a good first impression, you're not there to impress anyone. Make the most out of the money that's going to be spent on getting a good education. Have a no-nonsense approach and try to lead by example and try to become the best whatever it is that you've chosen to pursue.

In college you start fresh. No one knows that you are shy. If you ever wanted to change your personality, this is the best time to do it. But I will let you in a little secret. Make sure to move in early. Tell your parents you have to be among the first ones to be there. Everyone is really nervous when they get there and they will try to strike friendships with the first people they see. You also get to choose the better bed and desk. The funny thing is that they will become your best friends for life. If you get there late, you will notice that cliques have already been formed. Since you will be living in the residence halls, you probably won't have to go around and introduce yourself to meet people. Just make sure you hang out in the common area. Also college is different from high school in that there is no popularity status. People are a lot more mature and they are more open to making new friends. You will know what I mean when you get there. Don't worry too much. Meeting new people in college is very easy as long as you act yourself and be open to meeting new people. Also if your roommate or suitemate is a sociable person, hang out with her. Basically don't stay in your room too much. Go out there and check out all the welcome events and go visit other residence halls. I think the only way to make a bad impression in the res hall is to play the music ridiculously loud, bring in a lot of contrabands, or become known for inviting too many boys into the room.
