What happens if a person gets accepted into two colleges?

  • For example, let's say some one applied for 2+ colleges, and said person gets accepted to 2+ of those colleges, what would happen? I mean, I know they'd have to pick one, but would you have to send a letter to the other colleges saying you chose a different school, or something like that? Would it be rude to just blow the other schools off? This was just a question that went through my head while researching some colleges and such.

    Yes, It would be rude not to send an email or letter to the college you will not attend. Just write that you have decided to attend another college and thank them for admitting you. You do not need to name the college that you will attend.

Imagine being admitted to only one! You should have options when finally choosing your intended college, and many people including myself are accepted to 6+ colleges. The admissions officers know this, and they admit more students than they plan to actually enroll. Additionally, many schools have waiting lists, so if students decide to attend a different college, some from the waiting list will fill their place.the school doesn't care, it's all a conveyor belt anyway

You shouldn't blow the other school off for two reasons: (1) There are a lot of nervous kids on waitlists. If you don't want to go give them the relief of knowing they got in. (2) If you ever want to work with the school in the future and they remember you did that...that'll be the end of that opportunity. Reply, it doesn't take that long.
