Is practical nursing a hard study?

Which hefc modules are best to study to gain access to a nursing diploma at uni?

• I really want to study mental health nursing - I got great GCSEs apart from Maths which I got a Grade D but as I am 22 I am classed as being out of education for too long. I spoke to the university which I want to study at and they said I would have to go to college to do an access course which would have to include Quantitative Methods (maths) I then spoke to the college and they informed me there are still places on the january course (yaaayyyy) she said I would have to study three modules to include maths & a science (although it never mentioned a science subject on the uni entry requirements) Basically I am just wondering which modules will be best for me to study? and also if I pass these hefc modules will this give me a good chance at being accepted onto the mental health nursing diploma course at uni?   The actual units vary with colleges so you have not given enough information about the units available for anyone to give you advice. If you successfully complete an access course you normally get direct entry to the uni course your college has links with. You do NEED maths and science for nursing, you will actually use both on a daily basis when you are a nurse. Every year there are reports of accidental overdoses given by nurses because they got the maths wrong drawing up the medication and in mental health nursing you will be dealing with drugs that can literally change the way someone thinks - a big responsibility. good luck with your studies.
