What's the difference between university, college and university college?

  • Call me stupid but I really have no idea how to tell the difference.

    This is common knowledge. 1. An University is a Basic Body (Government regulated) to which various colleges in its vicnity are affliated; or to say simply, attached. 2. Individual educational institutions (may be private & or govt.) that are affliated to the above university are called COLLEGES. 3. At instances wherein there is college within the University Campus, which is/are run by the said universities, THEN IT IS TERMED AS UNVERSITY COLLEGE. 4. This is mere terminology and varies from country to country. 5. Sometimes the colleges within the universities, are called as Schools: eg: school of Bus. mgt, school of Engg tech etc etc.

university offers graduate degrees, such as a masters or ph.d. they can be private or state affiliated. colleges only offer undergraduate degrees. many colleges are private, but some are state affiliated. i have never heard of a university college, so i can't help you there.
